Please be advised that the first edition of my book, THE KOREAN MARTIAL ART OF TAE KWON DO AND EARLY HISTORY, has been sold out. My sincere thanks to all who purchased it and supported my goal of relating the true history of the original Tae Kwon Do.
Due to your encouragement, THE KOREAN MARTIAL ART OF TAE KWON DO AND EARLY HISTORY, has been revised as of 2010 to include sparring patterns, training guidelines and a promotional testing schedule. The book will be published soon.
This revision was necessary to provide both students and instructors with information essential to making their Tae Kwon Do training more efficient and the image of Tae Kwon Do, as a whole, more respectable.
Although traditional patterns are good for physical fitness, they contain many movements which are not effective in actual fighting. Since sparring patterns are composed of only those movements that have been proven effective in actual fighting, no valuable training time is wasted practicing non-applicable movements.
One of the greatest threats to our art is the ever-increasing promoting of both students and instructors who are undeserving. Any fighting art is only as good as the ability of its practitioners. Once their ability becomes non-existent, the art becomes non-existent as well. A complete and strictly-enforced training curriculum and grading system is essential for maintaining the highest Tae Kwon Do standards possible.
